About the Project
Within the scope of the project, the Jozani–Charawe–Ukongoroni–Bwejuu Road (23.3 km), Fuoni–Tunguu Road (5.8 km, dual carriageway), Bungi Road (0.9 km), Nungwi Airport Road (2.15 km), and Nungwi Intercity Roads (10.8 km) were upgraded to bituminous standards.
The works included road pavement construction, pedestrian walkway development, installation of new culverts and side drainage systems, construction of drainage facilities, road markings and signage, as well as general complementary works. In addition, the relocation and reorganization of water, gas, electricity, and communication lines were carried out within the scope of the project.
Implemented with a total budget of USD 31,275,383.00, the project was successfully completed and made a significant contribution to Zanzibar’s transportation infrastructure.
